Malayalam Box Office Collection Report 2013 - summarised

Around 90 Malayalam films has released in 2013 so far. 80% of them were casualties and were stated as box office disasters by trade analysts. So far, the industry has got 1 Blockbuster and 5 Super Hits.
So far, Dileep and Mammootty are leading this year with two Super Hits. When they mutually ruled box office as kammath brothers in Kammath and Kammath, Dileep has Vyshak's Sound Thoma and Mammootty has Lal Jose's Immanuel as their second Super Hits. While Sound Thoma and Kammath and Kammath did some brisk business at the box office, Immanuel cashed in it's long run. Immanuel is the longest running movie of the year which completed 100 days run. Dileep continues his unpredictable box office magic defying all the negative word of mouth and thumbs down from critics. Mammootty after back to back flops in previous years has made a great comeback with Kammath and Kammath and Immanuel. Kunchacko Boban - Biju Menon duo strikes again this year with another blockbuster 'Romans'. Romans ran for around 90 days in the theaters. Honey Bee was the surprise hit of the year and marked the debut of Jr. Lal. Asif Ali gets a genuine hit to his credit after a long gap. The rising star Dulquer Salmaan marks his presence with another super hit ABCD. Mohanlal is having a dull period so far. His movies like Lokpal, Red Wine got bombed at the box office.
Other movies which had the potential to be Super Hits were Mumbai Police, Ladies and Gentleman, 3 Dots but got terminated on the midway. Movies like Amen, Neram, Celluloid, Bharya Athra Pora received good word of mouth and cashed in their long run.
